Natural Salt Water Inhaler

A Unique Seaside Experience in Northern Slovakia In Oravská Polhora, the northernmost village in Slovakia, you'll find a truly unique tourist attraction. Thanks to nearby natural salty water springs beneath Babia Góra, a special inhalation pavilion was created—offering an experience remarkably similar to breathing sea air. Its microclimate closely resembles that of a coastal environment.

The inhalation system works by circulating saline water, which is allowed to flow freely and evaporate as air passes through blackthorn reeds. This process releases iodine and bromine vapors into the air. As you stand near the wooden gazebo, you'll be greeted by the fresh, seaside-like aroma, and the air is not only pleasant—it also has proven health benefits, especially for the respiratory system. At the source beneath Babia Góra—where the salty water originates—a famous spa once stood at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It was known for treating a range of ailments, including respiratory conditions, skin problems, tuberculosis, and inflammations. The healing properties of this water are still valued and used today.
